KAYTRAMINÉ's self-titled debut is here and it features 11 tracks and a runtime of 34 minutes. In our review of their first single "4Eva" we stated "It’s fun, doesn’t require too much from the listener, and is well produced". The question is does the album evolve beyond "4Eva"? Let's dissect it and find out. "Richest Opp" is the latest mixtape from rapper YoungBoy Never Broke Again and it is the most difficult tape I've ever had to review. Not due to its length or its genre but due to having to judge all 17 tracks of the release objectively. To keep it straight, I believe NBA YoungBoy is overrated as well as one of the kings of drugged out mumble rap. To say the least, listening to 17 tracks of him was a challenge but I got it done and here's my take. Analyzing 3 Songs from Richest Opp Chopstick...
It's been 3 years since the release of "The Chauncey Hollis Project" and now Hit-Boy is back in the driver's seat with his latest album "Surf or Drown". Unlike his previous projects, Surf and Drown serves two roles in that it highlights Hit-Boy as an artist for the first half and as a producer for the second. Surf or Drown is loaded with features from the likes of Dom Kennedy, Devin Morrison, James Fauntleroy, The Alchemist and more...will it yield an amazing album? Let's start by analyzing...
Musiq Soulchild is back with another album and this time he is joined by Hit Boy, the other half of Nas‘ King's Disease series + Magic. To be frank, this album is a breath of fresh air as Musiq Soulchild has been unable to recreate the passion and production value that made 2011's Musiqinthemagiq such an amazing album. Deemed a musical journal and gradual shift of his life, Oddisee To What End is a 16 track smorgasbord of skillful lyrical delivery, thoughtful subject matter, and expertly crafted beats. If Oddisee were only an MC, this outing would be leagues ahead of the competition. But no, Oddisee wrote, produced, and mixed every track on the record which puts this new album and Oddisee in a league of its/his own. But does it live up to the Odd Cure EP? Let's dive in and find out. Analyzing 3 Random...

After a 5-year hiatus, Kendrick Lamar steps back on the scene with his fifth album Mr. Morale and the Big Steppers. Before we begin, let’s level set…this is not an album for everyone. It’s an experimental genre-bender that will leave those expecting a pure and unadulterated Rap album feeling ostracized and confused. I recommend listeners come to this album expecting “Alternative Rap” at best and “Not Even Rap” at its worst. Now shall we begin? Analysis (3 Random Songs) Silent Hill Silent...
Nas has given us a present this holiday season with his second release of 2021, “Magic”. This 9-track outing is very simple, it relies on up-tempo beats and pared-down verses but also genius because it’s the formula in which Nas shines best. Imagine pouring your favorite Nas albums into a coffee press and as you press the plunger down, you see cuts like “Summer on Smash”, “Like Me”, the whole “NASIR” album filtered out. The resulting Coffee would be the perfect analogy for Nas Magic. Nas...
The first thing that one has to ask themselves when approaching Wale Folarin II is: “can I overlook his antics?” Once you eliminate Wale’s questionable online persona, you reveal an artist who has maintained relevance for over a decade. While some still take issue with his signing to Rick Ross’ MMG, there is no denying that it exposed him to a larger fanbase with minimal compromise. On his seventh full release, Wale offers up a smorgasbord of genre-bending tracks which could be the album’s...
