Summertime's coming and it looks like Coi LeRay just dropped its official anthem with new single “Bops”. For starters, the beat is catchy as heck and gives that minimalistic "Chicken Noodle Soup" vibe. Coi Leray holds her own on the track with a confident delivery and unapologetic braggadocio. It is the perfect solo track to follow up her most recent collaborations. Be prepared to hear this everywhere for the rest of the year.

Intro

The beat features an infectious cowbell that will instantly make you want to hop up and move your body. It is shor

Verses

Verse 1 is for all intents and purposes an introduction but Coi does not disappoint. From the first bar she let’s everyone know what type of time she is on and is unapologetic about it.

Catchin' jets, boo (Woo), I got jet fuel (Woo)

When I touch down (Ah), I'ma get loose (Loose)

The bars are fairly creative and the way she delivers them takes them to the next level. She spits with swag and finesse which is on full display during the second verse.

They tryna throw rocks (Uh)

They think that it's hopscotch (Ah)

I pull up, the show stops (Uh)

They eyein' like cyclops (What else?)

Her slick talk is up there with the best female MCs in the game. But what makes hers even superior is she stays on beat while she is doing it. Let's not lie, a lot of rappers nowadays no matter the gender cannot stay on beat to save their lives.

Bridge

Rap songs usually do not have bridges but I think it’s a tactic Coi employed so that she could use the same Verse twice. It works here as it’s fun and memorable but from a purely technical perspective it’s cheap and lazy. My opinion may seem petty to some but I’m reviewing this as a Rap song and not a Pop anthem. Having said that the Bridge is still dope and bars like the ones below will be repeated all over the internet:

Go and grab ya calculator (Add it up)

Go and pop that punani like a percolator (Throw it back)

Hook

The Hook is exactly what it needs to be for the song, simple and catchy. The synth that hits during the hook is the perfect counter to Coi’s flow and takes it all to another level.

Parting Thoughts

“Bops” is expertly crafted for the radio. The cowbell is hypnotizing, the drums make you want to get up and do a little skip dance, and the bars are perfect for the tone of the song. It's the perfect release after Coi LeRay's recent collaborations with Nicki Minaj, David Guetta, Raye, and Sabrina Carpenter.

.....but Coi Leray isn't finished with new music as on April 28, 2023 she dropped another single "My Body" which was produced by Johnny Goldstein. Are these two singles a clue that a new album is on the way? We'll see.
