Boochie Bear is a derogatory name for YouTube personality “Brandon” aka “Pan Africanism Strikes Back. The term was coined by Tariq Nasheed in 2022 and since then has grown in popularity due the release of "The Adventures of Boochie Bear", a series of cartoon videos produced by King Flex Entertainment. In this series, Brandon is represented as an obese bear that works for the FBI and exhibits some rather embellished NSFW body parts. Users can watch The Adventures of Boochie Bear on Youtube or on Tariq Nasheed's Vimeo OTT based streaming site FBA Stream.

When Did The Adventures of Boochie Bear Cartoon Series Begin?

The first episode of "The Adventures of Boochie Bear" was released on September 15th, 2022 via a post on Twitter by Tariq Nasheed. In the 3 minute episode, Boochie Bear is a FBI asset whose handler instructs him to disrupt the opening of a new Black History Museum. Boochie in all his clumsiness ends up setting himself on fire during the mission and attempt to sue Tariq for damages. The short was met with positive reviews by fans of Tariq Nasheed and since then has expanded into two additional episodes.

The Adventures of Boochie Bear - Reparations Hugs

In this episode things heat up for Boochie Bear after he botches the burning of the Black History Museum. Since Boochie is so inept, the FBI asks him to go plant some paraphernalia outside of the Black History Museum.

The Adventures of Boochie Bear - Money Problems

In this new episode, Boochie Bear is given sidekicks "Munchie X" and "Tater Tot" (who have a striking resemblance to Meechie X and Taharka Bey) to help sabotage the Black History Museum.

Why Are Brandon and Tariq Nasheed Beefing?

The Power 106 Pull Up

On August 2, 2022 Tariq Nasheed promoted a protest taking place at a Los Angeles-based radio station (Power 106) for their alleged perpetuation of anti-Blackness. After moderate success, the protest group decided to reconvene on August 10th, 2022 which sparked the attention of Pan Africanism Strikes Back.

Instead of showing support, Brandon decided to show up and run interference for the radio station and the allegedly racist Hispanics the station gave platform. It was this act that put Brandon firmly in the crosshairs of Foundational Black Americans as a constituency.

"FBA" is a lineage-based ethnic identifier created by Tariq Nasheed after disagreement with the views of Yvette Carnell and Antonio Moore of ADOS.

Scrutiny of the Hidden History Museum

After crowd-funding of the Hidden History Museum was complete, Tariq Nasheed was unable to secure the piece of land promised in the GoFundMe campaign video. Brandon used Nasheed's setback as an opportunity to go on the offense against Tariq in a series of YouTube videos dating back to Q3 of 2022.

Tariq eventually pivoted and decided to secure a finished building which he did successfully in September 2022. However, Brandon continued to scrutinize the project because:
  1. The square footage of the building was unable to support the scope of the project outlined in the original campaign.
  2. Tariq Nasheed had a tenant in the building that he did not disclose to the contributors.

Pan Africanism Strikes Back Throws Flag on Vandalism Play

On Nov 2nd, 2022 Tariq Nasheed claimed that the Hidden History Museum was vandalized by an anti-Black organization who he did not name. The claim was immediately viewed as suspicious by Brandon and so he continued on with the critiques. His largest critiques were that:
  1. Tariq provided no surveillance footage.
  2. There was no damage done to the building.
  3. The signs were similar to ones from a claim made by Tariq earlier in the year.

In a move that may have took it too far, Brandon reached out to the tenants to ask if they were privy to any vandalism. According to Brandon, the tenants said "no" and shortly after decided to leave the building for good.

Instead of addressing the critiques of the community, Tariq decided he would make fun of any and all detractors. The result was The Adventures of Boochie Bear series of videos and a Super Mario Brothers style mobile game featuring Taharka Bey. While these may have been a hit with fans, it may have been gasoline poured on a small fire.

Tariq Nasheed Strikes Back With a Restraining Order Against Boochie Bear

In response to Brandon's meddling, Tariq Nasheed decided to file a restraining order against Brandon but was ultimately unsuccessful. Videos of Tariq and two aggressive non-Black men walking down Brandon surfaced immediately after the ruling was finalized. While many felt it was funny others did not like that Tariq was intimidating a Black man with non-Black security. In the end, not only did the event embolden Brandon, it also served as a valuable reminder that Twitter adulation does not extend into the Court of Law.

Lessons To Be Learned From #BoochieGate

We believe that Tariq's inability to address the community's concerns with dignity and respect gave credence to the detractors and led to an increase in their views and influence. While The Adventures of Boochie Bear, jokes, and games may be good for views and revenue, they also undermine legitimacy and make potential business partners second-guess further dealings.

A critical component to building a functioning community is approaching one another with respect regardless of economic or social status. If we as a community are to mature we need to understand that when we share our hard-earned money we are also entitled to answers. But not only are we entitled to answers, we are also entitled to results. We must demand excellence and transparency from those who act on our behalf if we are ever going to mature as a people.

Brandon has taken a liking to The Adventures of Boochie Bear and now refers to himself as "Boochie Bad Ass", a play on "Boosie Bad Ass".
