Tariq Nasheed is an accomplished author, internet personality, and film producer born in Detroit, MI and raised in Birmingham, AL. At the age of 17 he moved to Los Angeles, CA. to expand his horizons and in hindsight may have been one of the single greatest moves he made in his adolescence. Since then Tariq has created several best selling books such as The Elite Way, The Mack Within, and Foundational Black American Race Baiter. In addition to books he created the much sought after Hidden Colors series which was the most successful mass-market independent documentary in history according to K Flex. Throughout his career, King Flex has been able to continuously reinvent himself thus making him the personification of the word "hustle" and "determination".

The Era of Mack Lessons

The Art of Mackin'

Tariq Nasheed is the pioneer of the "PUA" movement which he ushered in with the release of "The Art of Mackin'" in 2000. It was the first major publication that taught men how to navigate the landscape of dating from the perspective of a successful male. The Art of Mackin' sprouted into an entire line up of DVDs, Books, and Lifestyle products that were marketed under the "Mack Lessons" brand.

The Elite Way

After the success of "The Art of Mackin'" Tariq Nasheed followed up with "The Elite Way" which highlighted 10 rules men must known in order to deal with women. The book also was a major success with purchasers lauding it for how grounded and straight-forward the material was.

The Mack Lessons series of materials are all about understanding the dynamics of power and respect, which Tariq Nasheed firmly believes are necessary for any successful relationship. His approach has been praised both for its insight and its practical application, making it a must-read for anyone looking to understand the psychology of relationships.

Pick Up Artistry Goes Mainstream

After reaching massive success, others began to mimic his formula which led to the release of following "PUA" standards such as:
  • The Mystery Method - 2006
  • The Game By Neil Strauss - 2005
  • Double Your Dating By David DeAngelo - 2010
Tariq's style of writing became more beneficial as time progressed as White PUAs morphed "the game" from an art into a mathematic equation. Terms like AFC, HB10, Negging, and etc began to flood the scene and confuse men even more than they were before. While King Flex does not get the respect he deserves for creating the lane, his influence is undeniable.

Revealing the Hidden Colors of History

Hidden Colors 1: The Untold History of People of Aboriginal, Moor, and African Descent

In 2011, Tariq Nasheed released the first installment of the now popular documentary series "Hidden Colors". Hidden Colors 1 is the Untold History of People of Aboriginal, Moor, and African descent which highlighted how history has been rewritten to exclude the contributions of African people. It speaks on how Ancient Egypt was a Black society, how Black were the first to circumnavigate the globe, and how there were "pre-Columbian" settlements in the present day United States. The film was an immediate hit as its high production quality set it apart from its contemporaries that touched similar topics.

Hidden Colors 2: The Triumph of Melanin

A bit more than a year later, King Flex released the follow up to Hidden Colors 1 which further touched on the global African presence and specifically the treatment of Black people in the USA. Some individuals of note included in this edition were Umar Johnson, KRS One, and Tony Browder.

Hidden Colors 3, 4, 5

Hidden Colors 3 saw the series divert from the African contribution to civilization to speaking on racism, White supremacy, and ways "the system" attacks Black people in the USA. While the documentaries remain popular and are a huge step forward for Black historical documentaries, the claims made within started to come under increased scrutiny.

American Maroon

American Maroon is Nasheed's latest release that speaks on the lives of the runaway slaves colonies that came to fruition in the Americas. We gave an in-depth review on American Maroon that you should check out.

Tariq Goes Back to His Musical Roots With Mink Slide

Egyptian Musk

2018 saw Tariq launch "Egyptian Musk" which is the debut album for his R&B duo "Mink Slide". The album debuted #12 on the Billboard R&B Albums charts and found mild hits with City Lights and It's Time.

Crushed Velvet and Funk on Wheels

In 2020, the group followed up with "Crushed Velvet" which hit the Billboard Top 100 for 1 week due to the smash singles Guest List and After Hours. The groups most recent project was Funk On Wheels that released Oct, 1 2021 featuring singles "Slide to You" and "Fine With Me"

The Hidden History Museum

The Crowdfund

In August 2021, Tariq Nasheed began fundraising for a Black History Museum to be built in Los Angeles, CA. Some of the goals of the project was to create a multi-story space for Black people to learn about Black American history, pay homage to our leaders, and provide a place to facilitate community events. He projected that the increased economic activity from he museum would revitalize the Black businesses within proximity.

Nasheed's ask was for $1M USD to procure the land, it was made clear that an additional $6M would be raised by the community and additional partners to bring the project to completion. The community, extremely excited by the prospect of the development donated a total of $1.1M from 10,518 backers by the cut off date.

There's Trouble in Tinseltown

On March 23rd, 2022 Tariq Nasheed made an update on IndieGogo highlight how the team is still working on securing a location for the Hidden History Museum. The update was not news for those who follow him on social media as he had been very vocal about his difficulties with procuring the original site. His reasoning for not being able to find a plot within the original area was a mixture of racism and politics. While no one truly knows what transpired, Tariq was eventually able to purchase a building by September of that year. Tariq faced heavy scrutiny through out the process which we discuss in our article about the Origins of Boochie Bear

The Hidden History Museum Grand Opening is 2/25/23

While the scope of the Museum has been downsized people are still excited for the grand opening. The special day includes a buffet dinner and a watch party for Tariq's latest release, "American Maroon". The new release tells the story of Black Americans who fought off White Supremacists during the Antebellum Slavery period of the USA.

What Else Does Tariq Nasheed Have in Store?
