Fortunately, in America sisters have embraced natural hair. But for a while they were weaving hard core and doing the same.

I hate to get on these sisters, but Nigerian women from my observation from being around them at times in places, are the most anti natural hair I've seen. To be fair, I've heard them say their own men don't like natural hair and it has a lot of truth to it. Also, natural hair at least locally in west Africa (Nigeria, Ghana) where its low cut, some see as a sign of poverty that you can't afford to get your hair done.

Most of the school girls I saw in Ghana had very pretty much shaved heads, very low cut. I was told because it was easy to manage (I ask questions....lol). In Dubai, a lot of the Africans, do the long past the small of the back weaves of all kinds of colors: green, blonde, orange, whatever.
I've seen that in the hood a lot in America as well so its not just Africans. It's gotten that way in the Caribbean as well. Long, colorful fake hair at the local clubs.

It may be more in some countries but too many black women, be it America, Africa, UK, Caribbean are doing the most.

The colorism on the continent is on some other ish though. Although I see things are changing. I've said in another post, words like 'African Queen' 'Melanin' and the like is appearing more on social media from the sisters .

All I hear is "why would I want to do myself up and show off the shame of my natural hair?"

This woman is a self-hating person. She hates herself. She wants to make sure other women hate their natural selves too. The f is wrong with her. Like fine whatever, wear the weaves and wigs if you want but it is just another way of playing yourself and living up to someone else's standards.

    Real stuff.
I've been listening to this podcast/channel lately, she talks about unambiguous black women's insecurities and other related topics.

I understand that come ladies have a hard time with their natural hair, like growing it out and styling it but if you clean up your diet and learn to love yourself, it goes a long way. Unless you are actually losing hair, ladies out there should be trying instead of just throwing a wig on their heads.
