I want to get in the habit of cooking more at home. Taking better care of myself and eating healthier meals. Problem is, I am short on time half the time so I need to find ways to cut out cook and prep time for meals. I am looking to pick up a few things this weekend when I am out shopping. What are some good kitchen items that help save time when preparing home-cooked meals?

it kinda depends on what you cooking, a lifesaver is a crockpot. you can make so many different meals with it. easy to prep for and everything in one pot.
here's something to get you started if you are interested.

If you do lots of slicing, dicing, mixing, blending & chopping, you need a food processor.
Non-stick pots, pans & bake ware, also cuts preparation time down.
Marinating meats overnight inhances the flavor & tenderness.
Cutting up natural veggies for seasoning. Onions, garlic, bell peppers, rosemary thyme, bay leaves, jalapeños, cilantro, etc also saves time. Combine the seasonings you choose, inside a zip lock bag. Dry ingredients in one bag. Onions, garlic & bell peppers in another bag & refrigerated.
Anything else you'd like to know, just ask & I hope this helped.

Does anyone know if those Ninja things are any good? The one for chopping up food? I was considering that.

I am going to get a crockpot for sure. That seems like one of the best items to get cause I can throw something together before work and come home to a good homecooked meal. I think I might invest in some of those meal prep containers for the freezer as well so I can make big batches of food and have leftovers for at work throughout the week.

I did that on weekends, when I worked. Prepared meals for the week, labeled & froze them in freezer bags. No freezer burn & remained fresh as the day I prepared them. Quizinart or Kitchenaid are the choice items for me, because I prepare various things. Crock Pots aka slow cookers are good for chili, Jumbalaya, beans & rice, stews, etc.

I think this is the direction I will go for sure. Meal prep saves a lot of money too which is good cause I want to look into investing to have a stable future for myself and my future kids.
