Sad, but it was conquered a few times (Romans, British, French, Arabs, Macedonians (Greeks), etc.

It's a good thing to ponder but it's our job to remake it. It's not easy but it's totally doable...I always point to how the Anglo Saxons were some no names in Germany and in 1000 years ended up conquering the entire world. You can't even imagine a time where Anglo Saxons weren't the dominant race now.
