It’s extremely easy to look in retrospect to see their error but they saw Malcolm X as a traitor to the nation and treated him as such. They didn’t see him as the man we venerate today, they saw him as a student, someone under their tutelage that went rogue. I’m no justifying the behavior but we have to look at it through their eyes to fully understand and then to cast judgment. Sometimes when you put yourself in their position, you would see that with your current level of intellect would have made the same decisions as they did. Your sound reasoning comes from the fact of already knowing the destination of all divergent paths.
