Sad to see niggas sambo’in it up in the comments. “Did you know what Howard did for the enslaved”, while completely ignoring his point of white supremacy leaving their mark. I could go deep into this but we need to understand how nuanced that time period was. Not all Union or northerners were good people, we can’t simplify history to that.
Back to negroes being upset by these facts; HBCUs and D9 fraternities are gangbanging for nerds. Yeah I said it! I acknowledge the positives of them BUT some of our family take it too far and will biased-ly defend them to the death. Example: “Clyburn hasn’t done shit”, “hold on now, he’s a Q-dawg you can’t talk about him like that”, like does that exempt him from criticism??? I, like many others from the south, grew up on a street named after a confederate. Now I’m very proud of where I come from, I used to let niggas KNOW where I came from, I used to let niggas KNOW where I went to school at… both places named after confederates. When I grew up and absorbed that disgusting fact I stopped taking pride in that. The point of where you come from and/or accomplished matters more than the street or school name. Let it go.

If we are being honest a lot of Black America are infants when it comes to critical thinking. You say anything that they don't agree with they lash out and whine instead of engaging intellectually. I hope we can progress beyond the idol worship and start to analyze the world properly and then respond as needed.
