I think the bagged soil I got let me down cause the stuff I was growing didn't get very far. Most of it just died off or was heavily stunted. I tried fixing it and just gave up. I want to prep some soil for of the winter months and get a compost pile going. What should I put it in that will be broken down come spring?

I use a compost tumbler, it makes things a lot easier and neater.

We have a composter and use "GreenPIG compost accelerator" it converts yard waste into fertile humus in 30 days. Hope this helps.

Thanks, I am going to look into both before heading to work. I feel like the soil quality will only improve if I do it myself. I will make my own and make sure it has good nutrition for my plants next year.

Glad I found this thread. I am going to start composting soon. Right now I am saving banana peels. I just need to purchase the materials.
