Oh so let me get it right. I remember before the playoff system they had some computer system that determined who would go to the bowl games right? They have some resemblance of that still but it determines who makes it into the playoffs. If you expand the playoffs it makes it so that teams have to perform through more levels to get to a championship game rather than being one level away and you’re placed there by a poll or algorithm.March Madness seems to work pretty well I wonder why don’t they go that route. Basically they want to have a means to stop competitive teams from getting to the championship. They have a subjective rather than objective gate that they can use to block teams arbitrarily.
