If you‘ve been in any online B1 spaces, you’ve inevitably heard talk about us being Freedmen. Many proponents of the “Freedmen” term state that the reason the US Government hasn’t given us our rights is because we misclassify ourselves as Black. By claiming freedmen, we will be able to petition the government to give us the set asides and rights meant for freedmen.Doesn’t this sound a lot like the Moors? One of the pre-eminent entities pushing this “freedmen” lingo is the “United Sons and Daughters of Freedmen”, let’s look at its founders:The Chairman is a MoorThe Treasurer is a MoorThe Secretary is A MoorHow is this not a mere reimaging of the “we are the moors with a doas” twist.
