If FBA is lineage-based, wouldn't that include Liberians? They were slaves in America.
You have to look at Liberia similar to Palestine. You have the natives (Palestinians) then the transplants (Jews). If FBA is lineage-based, wouldn't that include Liberians? They were slaves in America.
It is so funny. There are so many of our people with a receding or screwed up hairline. It is not a definitive way to tell who is FBA.No as Liberia is a country that was created by the American government to rid itself of its slaves. There are indigenous tribes that were in the land known as Liberia and those people are Native Africans. The only individuals in Liberia that could potentially fall under Tariq's FBA designation would be those of Americo-Liberian descent assuming they have the requisite hairline to be considered.
I don't see the Liberians as FBA. I just don't.
I mean, people could use that argument against us, right? that we were brought here on ships, not natives. and a lot of us are mixed in with white people and natives in our family whether involuntarily or voluntarily. You have to look at Liberia similar to Palestine. You have the natives (Palestinians) then the transplants (Jews).
When it comes to the country we call Liberia there were 20 original ethnic groups there, the transplants were the Black Americans. The natives are not Black American and never have been.
All that means is that SOME Liberians could be FBA not all. Your claim is partially true in that some Liberians can be considered FBA but the ones whose family has always been in Africa are not. To further address your point, there are those who are mixed with native African ancestry and Americo-Liberian ancestry and those would be partial-FBA.I mean, people could use that argument against us, right? that we were brought here on ships, not natives. and a lot of us are mixed in with white people and natives in our family whether involuntarily or voluntarily.
Yes some still have and are proud of their FBA lineage. Apparently most of the ruling Liberian class have FBA lineage and that’s a beautiful thing. If FBA is lineage-based, wouldn't that include Liberians? They were slaves in America.
I don't think that's been the case since the 80's. They were overthrown and killed off for going over there trying to be boule.Yes some still have and are proud of their FBA lineage. Apparently most of the ruling Liberian class have FBA lineage and that’s a beautiful thing.
so you believe NONE of them survived and have "FBA lineage"?I don't think that's been the case since the 80's. They were overthrown and killed off for going over there trying to be boule.
Never said that.so you believe NONE of them survived and have "FBA lineage"?
Africa is big AF. Tariq is joking around. Like 900 million people who are distinctly different, living 1000s of miles apart will all have a receding hairline? Guarantee you you go to some areas of west Africa and you think you are in Chicago, NY or Detroit. We descended from them in part. Going back as far as Richard Pryor who went to Africa and joked he saw the twin of people he knew. I've seen brothers from the continent I could have sworn was 'Man Man' from the block. It is so funny. There are so many of our people with a receding or screwed up hairline. It is not a definitive way to tell who is FBA.
