I used Fedora and switch to Mint cause it seems to have better support for my needs and fewer issues, running Cinnamon as well.In terms of software, it depends on your needs. I basically use everything I used on Windows prior to switching. For gaming, I use Lutris which helps if I want to run anything under EA. It can be a pain for some games but once you get it running, it is gold.
