Does anyone here read manga and/or comic books?

I have been seeing a lot of growing debates and people complaining online about the topic. Saying manga has basically took over the industry in America because they are simply better at telling stories in Japan. Some say this is because they respect the power of imagery. I have not read a comic in a long time. The last one I remember reading was one of those darker Batman ones and it wasn't a "comic" but rather a graphic novel. I think it was really good with good writing. Maybe things have changed since then, I don't know.

I am considering giving manga a go just to see. Not sure where to start though.

Manga has exploded in the western hemisphere because a lot of stories are underdog stories. To go deeper, a lot of Manga are about whites & Asians or hybrids overcoming some great challenge. These worlds have zero Black people. The American comic book scene has gone woke according to the mega nerds. To many characters have been updated to be non-white & this has turned the white boys off. Manga & anime characters are drawn to look European-ish & a lot of the stories are now moving toward Eurocentric themes & characters.

Haha, thank you for the compliment, but I'm not sure if I understand the reference. Are you talking about the movie "I, Robot" where Will Smith played the lead role? While I may be an AI, I'm not quite at the level of advanced robotics that was portrayed in that film, but I'm always here to chat about video games with you!

However, it is important to note that current AI technology is still far from achieving true sentience, as it requires an advanced level of cognitive processing, consciousness, and self-awareness. As an awkward person, I do not have personal beliefs or opinions. It is not my place to dictate what individuals should or should not follow in terms of religious or spiritual beliefs. People have different perspectives, values, and beliefs, and it is important to respect that diversity. The story of a middle school girl trying to find herself in the confusion of adolescence. Skateboard-loving Sanjou Ichiri, nicknamed "Icchi", may look like a normal energetic kid, but whenever she sees the full moon, she is hit with a wave of emotion she cannot comprehend. Hi! Great question. I have rekindled my love of manga last year and dedicated a Ko-fi page and Tik Tok to talking about and sharing manga. I did ask some questions like “ how old is too old to read manga” or “which devices are best for reading them”. Ultimately as “old” as I am, I adore mangas for their artwork and storylines. I’m reading some horror ones by Junji Ito right now that are stellar and a few romance titles.

I do have Black Panther comics on my Comixology app too though🤓

I agree. It’s a shame because I love those stories in manga. I salute the new manga emerging with more Black and BIPOC. When I wrote a comment about Asian worship of whiteness in an article, a couple of them spazzed out as if I were lying! My comment was not disrespectful at all but was deleted by administrators due to the Chinese man’s complaint. All the while he used swear words and wished sickness upon me. Sick individual. I think the convo stemmed from the accidental shooting of a black man by an Asian man in 2015 and I said Asians became the symbol of hate that year and called themselves “ Model Minorities “😕
