What are the implications of this? Why would they do this now?
I smell a takeover in the near future. The Republicans have aligned with the right wing extremist. There have been stories of military, FBI and other enforcement agencies aiding and helping certain right wing groups. I don't see them slowing down anytime soon, be ready when they come.

No more presidential debates? Republicans say their candidates will no longer participate

The Republican National Committee said it is planning a change that would force Republican presidential candidates to sign a pledge saying they will not participate in any debates sponsored by the Commission on Presidential Debates. Former president Donald Trump complained publicly about the...

These devils are changing public policy right before our eyes. They don't even try to hide what they're doing.

For one, it’s not officially “No More Presidential Debates”, it’s no more debates through “Commission on Presidential Debates”. What is the CPD?

CPD’s primary purpose is to sponsor and produce the quadrennial general election debates and to undertake research and educational activities relating to the debates.

    CPD: About CPD

The CPD was started in 1987, I’m literally older than the CPD.

Now the question is, when have you last heard anything of substance at a Presidential Debate? They never talk about neo-liberalism vs. socialist policies, never talk about ending non-stop war, never talk about limiting the power of corporations or anything that bucks the status quo.

So is the RNC maybe going to pitch doing debates through another agency? According to the article, yes. Now the thought may be, “well they are going to pick someone favorable to them”. But that’s already how it is now.

The questions are already controlled, the moderator is already controlled, both candidates know to only go so far and to not call out any real issues.

I look at this as the RNC basically opting out of one part of the facade of democracy.
