I did play that in school, it was part of music class. I wasn't great at it but I am sure it is easy to learn if you keep at it. I just didn't have an interest back then. I feel like as I got older I grew to appreciate music more deeply and admire individual instruments.

This is true. I have seen a lot of people go about it this way. Just observing, studying, and learning from a distance before actually picking up an instrument and going with it.
