What are the known risks of the chemicals that spilled into the Delaware River?

A latex-based solution flowed into the waterway, which supplies much of Philadelphia's tap water, over the weekend

Officials warn of possible advisory Tuesday, encourage residents to begin storing tap water

Officials say the new timeline is based on how long it will take river water to reach customers after entering a Northeast Philly treatment plant.

Philly officials are trying to cover their behind:

"Philly water is safe to drink and use. We will continue to test and monitor the water in the Delaware River and share the results. A conservative estimate allows us to expect that this event will be completely resolved by next week. One user replied with this:

Okay, but when you say “safe to drink” do you mean you haven’t detected any of the spilled chemicals or is this a Flint / East Palatine situation where you’ve detected them but have calculated that not enough people will get sick for it to be worth telling us?

The leak happened on Friday, March 24, 2023. They claimed it was the chemical "latex" at first, but it's far worse than that.

Philadelphia residents didn't find out about this crisis until Sunday (2 whole days later). The water in these Black cities have always been suspect and janky. Now it's even worse.
