Congress approved a measure that would give the U.S. territory three options to moving forward with statehood. The people of Puerto Rico will choose to either become a state,go independent or independent with free association. I think it would be in the best interest of Puerto Rico to become a state of the United States long term. On the other hand, it looks like a sort of reparative measure by the United States considering what was done on Puerto Rican lands. If Puerto Rico chooses statehood they would forfeit any reparations claims they may have against the Unitef States.

I grew up I’m DC but now they allow illegals to vote , so I’ll fight against statehood for them. They set a bad precedence with that.
And PR means possibly making Spanish an official government language..hell no. But maybe all the Latino immigrants will leave the mainland for a more familiar environment. No

I oppose this. They are doing everything they possibly can to empower Latinos in order to vehemently undermine us. Giving them more power, leverage, and resources over us allows for more and more anti-Black racist Latino politicians like Nury Martinez and Kevin De León to be elected and destabilize Black people and our lives. Even if they make DC a state, all the racist and sellout politicians will do is pass policies and find ways to displace the Black natives and replace them with white and non-Black gentrifiers and illegals.

They want to convert dysfunctional America to a dysfunctional Latin American country ran by non-Black racists that speak en español and non-English languages as they treat us as bad if not worse than they do the Afro-Latinos.

Biden told the CBC old guard that we need to work with Latinos since there’s more of them, if I remember right. Dems especially ,are doing all they can to get their vote, so this is just another stunt.

The question of Puerto Rican statehood has been around for at least 50 years. There are advantages for Puerto Rico not to want statehood. And although they are technically required to pay federal taxes, most do not but get an American passport. They run their own island.

DC statehood is purely a play for the Dems to pick up electoral votes. That's it. I'm not knocking but that's the reason they want statehood. Its two more electoral votes in the bag. Had DC been a state, Gore would have won in 2000.

If Puerto Rico becomes a state, it would likely be 2 more electoral votes for Dems....for now. Of all the latino groups, Puerto Ricans identify with blacks the most. Meaning they have the strongest social connection. I am NOT saying they are an ally but generally speaking, no other latino group has traditional ties (Harlem, Brooklyn, the Bronx, Hunting Park, north Philly, Newark, NJ).

That is true of Nuyoricans but not island Ricans. The Puerto Ricans on the island overwhelmingly hate Black people.

You are right. In America they are the closest to liking us. Definitely less friendly on the island. "Hate"? I don't know hate but that's a subjective term and I don't know if I can say they 'hate' American blacks down there. There are a lot in the military from the island and they are fairly cool with us but pretty much everyone there has a family or friend in America. As I said, no ally but of all the spanish speaking peoples they are the closest to liking us. Again NO ALLY. I'm putting this in its context of comparison to other spanish speaking countries.

Domincans second. But its kinda reversed. So many brothers go there for smashing women they got a somewhat cool view of brothers but that's in the areas with the women. They are anti black especially against Haitians elsewhere.

Now that I think about Panamanians are hella cool to American blacks down there in some areas.

They tried to push this non-citizen (illegal alien) vote crap in NY and now they are really trying it in DC. I'm guessing they'll try it in Los Angeles, CA next.

I lived in Philly with Puerto Ricans and some were my friends and classmates but in totality they are not allies to black people.

While Black people can have a few white, Puerto Rican, Mexican, Latino, Asian, and Middle Eastern friends, the "friendship" is always conditional and those same friends still belong to non-Black groups with anti-Black racist attitudes that only focus on their own interests. They will always gravitate to others within their group. So even though you may have had a Puerto Rican friend since the 2nd grade, they will always hang with and be much closer to other Puerto Ricans and their Latino peers for obvious reasons. Will that same Puerto Rican friend hook you up with a job after high school or will they choose their fellow Puerto Rican or Nicaraguan friend instead? Even if you had white classmates and friends you hung out with in high school, once you all graduate, it's unlikely that they will even keep in contact with you as they grow from "N1GGER L0VER" Becky to Bonafide Karen and from Cool Kenny to Conservative Kyle.

Latinos, including Puerto Ricans, will do everything they can to gain political and socioeconomic control over Black areas while locking Black people, including their former Black friends, out. They might install sellouts like Heather Hutt and Karen Bass as Token negros in order to push the pro-Latino / anti-Black racist agenda like in Los Angeles, but that's it.
