I was a child a fairly long time ago. I grew up in a small, beautiful and peaceful midwestern college town. In the summer, after breakfast we would go outside to play unsupervised until lunch. We might ask if we could go fishing, but usually we would ride our bikes and play with the other children in our nine square block territory. After dinner we would go outside and play until the street lights came on. That was the signal to go home. One time a homeless person ( we called them hobos) came to our town. People were so amazed that my folks even took us on a drive to see him. It is shocking to see how much things have changed in the world since then.
