Even kids know who is "cool", who is popular, and who gets treated special and who doesn't. Kids may be naive, impatient, blissful, and short-sighted, but that doesn't make them dumb and completely non-observant of what's going on.As for the bolded, that's just the dominant white society and its minions taking both sides of the argument again and screaming "I'm white and I say so." It's about permanent interests, permanent gains, permanent power, and permanent benefits. Everything else is disposable to them.
