I want to get in the habit of cooking more at home. Taking better care of myself and eating healthier meals. Problem is, I am short on time half the time so I need to find ways to cut out cook and prep time for meals. I am looking to pick up a few things this weekend when I am out shopping. What are some good kitchen items that help save time when preparing home-cooked meals?

it kinda depends on what you cooking, a lifesaver is a crockpot. you can make so many different meals with it. easy to prep for and everything in one pot.

If you do lots of slicing, dicing, mixing, blending & chopping, you need a food processor.
Non-stick pots, pans & bake ware, also cuts preparation time down.
Marinating meats overnight inhances the flavor & tenderness.
Cutting up natural veggies for seasoning. Onions, garlic, bell peppers, rosemary thyme, bay leaves, jalapeños, cilantro, etc also saves time. Combine the seasonings you choose, inside a zip lock bag. Dry ingredients in one bag. Onions, garlic & bell peppers in another bag & refrigerated.
Anything else you'd like to know, just ask & I hope this helped.

Does anyone know if those Ninja things are any good? The one for chopping up food? I was considering that.

I am going to get a crockpot for sure. That seems like one of the best items to get cause I can throw something together before work and come home to a good homecooked meal. I think I might invest in some of those meal prep containers for the freezer as well so I can make big batches of food and have leftovers for at work throughout the week.

I did that on weekends, when I worked. Prepared meals for the week, labeled & froze them in freezer bags. No freezer burn & remained fresh as the day I prepared them. Quizinart or Kitchenaid are the choice items for me, because I prepare various things. Crock Pots aka slow cookers are good for chili, Jumbalaya, beans & rice, stews, etc.

I think this is the direction I will go for sure. Meal prep saves a lot of money too which is good cause I want to look into investing to have a stable future for myself and my future kids.

I watch shows like "Smokin' & Grillin' With AB", "Mr. Make It Happen", "Candy Tha Glam Cook", "Chef Jean-Pierre", "Cooking with Tammy", "Deddy's Kitchen", "Divas Can Cook", "Island Vibe Cooking", "Make It Dairy Free", "Nanaaba's Kitchen", "Rachel Ama", "Smokin' Joe's Pit BBQ", "Sweet Adjeley". All on YouTube. I also have fishing & hunting streams I watch on YouTube as well. Check out "Art Fennell" also. His family owns their land & they hunt, catch & cook. They make their own sauces, wines, etc. YouTube.

I'm leaving here alone so I also have to do it but thanks to youtube we can have very easy recipes and I use Instapot which can make many decent food in various cuisine without doing much hard work. Apart from them I have oven, fry pan and small pans.
