Brief background for everyone:

White girl Elizabeth goes to stanford for half a year in medical
Sees how much blood you have to have to give for most lab tests and thinks “why can’t we do tests from a finger prick of blood”?
One of her professors co-signs her, rich daddy calls up VCs and cash falls out the sky.
Elizabeth builds prototype testing equipment to do blood testing that only requires a finger prick of blood
Millions and Billions are invested in her company “theranos“ based on the idea
PROBLEM, IT‘S PHYSICALLY IMPOSSIBLE TO DO WHAT SHE IS TRYING. BLOOD BEHAVES DIFFERENT PER DROP VS VIAL.
Elizabeth would have known that if she was in med shool longer than 6 months, she found out after she had a billion dollar company based off an idea that’s impossible at a physics level.

She’s a piece of crap. Dude, when prospective and existing investors came to the lab to get tested for demo purposes, Elizabeth Holmes had the blood drawn using her equipment but then had them analyzed on Siemens machines because hers didn’t work. The issue they had is that the Siemens required regular quantities of blood, so they would dilute the sample with saline and then hack the Siemens machines to accept it. Some of the results were so bad that they would simply omit some of the tests off reports.

Their machines worked for basic tests but not for most of what they advertised, their results were hugely inaccurate THEY STILL launched into Walgreens! They gave out thousands and thousands of bad tests that even resulted in death because doctors were pre scribing drugs based on bad data given to them from the theranos equipment. Which wasn’t actually being used since theranos was running diluted blood sample in hacked Siemens Adbias.

Holmes said that when Theranos switched from using on-site analyzers to process samples to a centralized lab approach, it used third-party devices rather than its own equipment as an “invention” because there were too many samples to handle. Witnesses have testified that Theranos' signature blood-testing machine repeatedly failed quality assurance tests and delivered erroneous results. Holmes said the company didn’t tell its business partners about this arrangement because it was a trade secret. \

Truth is, her tech didn’t work, never worked, but white men were so enamored with her that they never made her prove herself. They just signed million dollar contracts with her and assumed it would work. Walgreens was guilty of this and signed a multi million dollar agreement to bring theranos blood tests to Walgreens. Since Elizabeth had to actually deliver product instead of run her mouth, she was panicked. She told walgreens she could do

X number of tests with Y quantity of blood which was revolutionary.

Fact was that she could only do;

X - 1000 number of tests with Y quantity,

So in order to do the 1000 that she promised, she brought in traditional blood test machines. Problem is, traditional machines require Y + 500 amount of blood but remember the whole premise is that they only need Y quantity of blood. So they can’t just start taking Y + 500 quantity because Walgreens would be like wtf. They also can’t have siemens machines in walgreens because they’ll be like wtf. So they took Y quantity from patient, shipped it to a lab in AZ, added 500 of saline to it and tested that.

Results were catastrophic.
