That disconnect of being non FBA or removed socially from the black community is a strong point because when FBAs read about the atrocities (pre & post slavery), we feel it! It’s not just text reading about how Mary Turner was treating like an animal, we feel that misery because we know that our ancestors went through that. It’s so easy for non FBAs and dominant society adjacent folk to speak down on reparations because they don’t have that same connection as us.I feel the only Black people who don’t want reparations are ones who are either ignorant and don’t know the history of that is owe to us! It’s not a handout it’s owed or they are trying to impress white people and they don’t want to be black. Because a lot of white people are against reparations I grew up around a lot of white people and believe me they’re against reparations. And some Black people are afraid that if Wife will give us reparations, they’re gonna be mad at their token black friend. Ignoring the wealthy people, so what if people decide to use their money foolishly? Consider all the black men and women who will use it smart and invest, start businesses, be able to buy homes, etc. - the good outweighs the bad every time!
