I only became aware of this because someone made a meme about Jay Z concerts a while back and then I started looking and low and behold, so many of them are just a sea of white lol Like I am all for people enjoying the music no matter what color you are but it seems strange. I don't really go to concerts myself so I would have never known. Why do you think this is the case? Are there cases where artists attract more black crowds?
Because 70% of the population are White Americans and they make up the biggest demographic that purchase Black American music. It’s just sheer numbers.
Ask stupid questions, LOL. That makes sense. I mean I just wouldn't have assumed this many white people are this invested as fans in the genre. I guess that switch flipped in the '90s and continued from there.

White Americans love Black American music which is why they have integrated it into the American experience. This was literally the music that White Americans were making…all the percussion are separate instruments.
The drum kit was created by Black Americans which is why it underpins the major genres we developed e.g.: Blues, Rock n Roll, Jazz, RnB, Soul, etc. If you ain’t bumping Yankee Doodle type shit then you’re probably listening to Black American music.

Damn, I had no idea. So in a way, the rock genre and other genres were built off the back of the black creative mind. That is nuts!
I really should be more aware of this though cause, when you think back in music history, when it evolved from classical music and branched out, was when different cultures were being assimilated in the west.

It wasn’t actually built off the back of the Black creative mind, it was built BY it. Rock, Blues, Jazz, etc were all demonized at one point in time…Jazz was looked at as negative “n-word” music just like Rap is looked at today. But then it slowly starts being appropriated and the faces the media shows are white faces doing the art and suddenly the Black influence is erased.
