Would you ever be a stay at home father? Instead of you working, your wife may be working, would you be into a relationship like that? Or would you prefer the other way around?

Honestly, I would be a stay at home father if my girlfriend was making more than enough. Just like I would be cool with her staying home if I was making enough. But, I'm all for her wanting to work as well. But for me, I would be a stay at home father. And I think the main reason why, is because us men don't tend to get a whole lot of time with our kids. Mothers are often the ones taking care of the kids, but we can take care of our own as well I think and I think it'd be fun to be a stay at home dad, just to spend the time with my kids and mold them into great kids and great adults. I like the idea of helping mold my future kids into good people.

Plus, it doesn't mean I can't work. I could also find work online.

I think the men should work and the lady should stay home. I had a stay at home guy and it was not my decision. He just didn't want to work. It would have been better if we both worked; therefore we could have made more than enough money to accomplish more in life. After I left him, he finally got a job because he had to feed himself. He didn't even want to provide for his children. After finding someone else, he is now a stay at home dad once more. I really think men are better designed to work more so than nurture children. But this could all just be my bad experience on the whole thing.

Fair point. I just feel most women these days, want to do things differently. At least, that's the way I feel as each woman I have dated, worked, and I was always fine with that. I think for me, I would still find work, either it be online or part-time if I was a stay at home dad.

And the thing about that today, is that we've grown and adapted to the times. We used to be hunters and gatherers, and now days, we don't need to do that as much. Yeah we need to work, and provide, but women are also capable of doing this.

I think it's also stereotypes that we've fallen into. Like men have to work and provide and women have to take care of children and so on. But I think we've moved pretty far away from those stereotypes.

There's nothing wrong with being a stay at home mother or a mother who wants to work. I'm all for it. If it works for everyone involved, that's great. It won't work for everyone.

What the hell attracted you to him in the first place? His lack of ambition must have been apparent from the onset.

I grew up in a household where both parents worked.

Problem is childcare is expensive, so when you see one working during the day, the one watching the kids is probably at work at night, depending on the situation.

Childcare is crazy expensive, especially if you have a lot of kids, it really adds up fast. I know a few people who do the same. A friend of mine, works during the day, and when he comes home a couple hours later the old lady heads into work. It's been like that for them for years now. Doesn't give them much time together.

Would you ever be a stay at home father yourself if presented the opportunity?

Nah, I don't mind working, and I can't sit still. My mother lived with us when my kids were young and when she passed they were already 10-11 and could watch themselves.
