If the units & construction are safe, I would live in a shipping container house. There are some nice ones currently in use:

I am not against living in one for a while. I don't think I would want to permanently stay in one, but it would be something respectable for me until I get my dream house. It most certainly beats living in a car. This is assuming they are safe as you said.
