Two of nation's most premier female MC’s Nicki Minaj and Ice Spice join forces to drop the grimy and oh so glamorous “Princess Diana”. The first thing this track has going for it is the fact that I can understand what both MCs are saying! It's sad to say but the Rap game is flooded with a slew of MCs that sound like they went to school with a helmet on. So thank you for not rapping with mashed potatoes in your mouth Nicki and Ice. Anyways, I digress. The song is produced by RiotUSA who is the son of Heavy Hitters Crew leader DJ Enuff and it goes hard.

Verse 1

It’s no secret that Ice Spice has one of the dopest voices in the game and it works so well over this beat. Not only is her voice a plus, her flow on "Princess Diana" is one as well. It's quick and she leaves a small pause at the end of every line to let the bar breathe. Im not the biggest fan of that in general but it works very well here.

Tryna be low, he gon' hit up my 'Gram (Grrah)
If he smart, he gon' act like a fan (Damn)
Thinkin' you bigger, they got ya head gassed (Grrah)
bishes slow, so I give 'em a pass

In these bars she keeps it cocky and let's anyone know that they need to come correct when they reach out. While as a man I can't relate, it's still a nice verse.

Verse 2

I came in ready to hate on Nicki Minaj for often corny bars and horrible takes on Black Americans but she swagged all over the beat.

I fell in love with a gangsta
So I hold him down like an anchor

Minaj keeps it restrained on her verse and in a way kind of co-signs Ice Spice by repeating her bars. The camaraderie and passing the torch to the next generation is a good look.

Parting Thoughts

Princess Diana is a dope cut that connects two generation of female MCs on one song. Hopefully it sets the tone that we can work together just as much as we beef. In the end I love the song because there were no weird noises, no mumbling, no yelling, and everyone sounded like they were not on drugs. Are the female MCs coming for the crown? It looks like it.
