Moneybagg Yo - Motion God Review | If It Ain't Broke Don't Fix It

Moneybagg Yo is following up his degenerate's anthem “On What You On” ft. GloRilla with his latest single “Motion God”. If I had to describe Moneybagg Yo as an artist it would be "consistent". You know what type of beat he is going to pick, what he is going to talk about on a song, and the flow he is going to use. So how does this factor into "Motion God"?

The Verses

I have to keep it a buck, if you heard one Moneybagg Yo verse you heard them all and "Motion God "is no exception. But the question arises, is that really a bad thing? Not necessarily seeing that Yo's allure is in his ability to lace trap beats with bars that do not interfere with the beat's vibe. It is something he does exceptionally well and this track continues the tried and true formula.

The Hook

Moneybagg does what 50 Cent and Ja Rule pioneered in the 2000s, the rap singing hook. The hook here is not bad and it’s not good, it's a decent change of pace from the verses and that’s good enough for his target demographic.

My $0.06

Motion God gives his fans more of what they like…Bass heavy trap beats with lyrics about guns, drugs, sex, and money. You can play “On What You On” right after “Motion God” and they are nearly indistinguishable which points to the consistency I mentioned in the beginning of the review. It's not my type of rap but as they say “if it ain’t broke don’t fix it”.

Lyrics

///Verse 1
See my eyes, red, I'm off these meds (Yeah)
Off the love, they do that for me, I ain't gotta put nothin' on his head (No)
Got these bishes out they body and these niggas in they chests
I post these racks up, just to motivate my niggas, ain't tryna flex (True)
Don't go broke tryna try that, 'cause every week, I'm private jet
These rappеrs need a stylist bad, but I ain't use a stylist yet (Ha)
Sign a million-dollar contract, send my boxеrs through a text (Quick)
Wake up, check my bank account, phone numbers in that bitch, I'm blessed (I'm like "Yes")
What's the word? Smokin' gumbo, urn, I'm up third right now (Up)
In the air, I'm free as a bird, plus I'm fly right now (Drip)
Talkin' slurred, can't pronounce a word up in this booth right now (Throw)
Full of syrup, I might kiss the curb, in this coupe right now (Skrrt)

///Hook
Plenty fancy cars (Got too many)
It's a whole lot of motion involved (Know I'm heavy)
Diamonds and tattoos cover my scars (You can't see 'em)
New Cadillac bulletproof, cost three-hundred large (That's necessary)
Make a killin', it's a crime what I charge (How much you want?)
I got some racks and got the fuck out her dodge (Mane, I was gone)
I pop my shit, them folks gon' pay me to ball (Show must go on)
Cut that bitch off, she ain't pick up when I call (If I did that, then I'd be wrong, wrong)

///Verse 2
I just hit another city (Where?)
No need to look around for 'em, I brought the vibes with me (Right here)
Fresh off the press, a cool seven-hundred, all Benji's (Blues)
Still sippin' wock, I get the Sprite and pour some lines in it (Pour)
Can't see, my eyes tinted (No)
Made it, am I movin' P's? Smoothest motion you done seen
This shit here gon' sell itself, just wait, that cup on top of the bean
One of my hoes shop at Chanel, one of my hoes can't stay off SHEIN
You sold that bitch so many dreams, quit pillow-talkin', go to sleep
I can't go like 'Pac (No), bulletproof, 'cause they takin' shots (Bah)
Been reppin' it 'round the world, now my hood a famous block (Homes)
Got plenty hoes, clothes, shows, bowls, primary goals
I need me some more, I'm goin' up, like the Lambo' Aventador doors (Up)

///Hook
