The Dana and Anne White Brawl Exposes the Media's Racist Double Standards

At a recent New Year's celebration, UFC Boss Dana White's temper was captured on camera as he was seen viciously attacking his own wife, Anne Stella White. Despite its severity, the press underplayed the gravity of this affair, seemingly to protect the image of the UFC President. In fact, Dana White himself is callously carrying on, on both social media and in real life like nothing ever happened. His wife, Anne Stella has been completely silent on the ordeal and the media is attempting to follow here lead. In this article we'll discuss how the fight between Anne White and Dana further proves that the media protects the image of White society at all costs.

Can You Spot the Difference?

  • Quote 1: "This is what a two game suspension looks like -- Person A delivering a vicious punch to his fiancee's face, knocking her out cold ... and [Redacted] has the shocking video."
  • Quote 2: "Person B and his wife got physical with each other on New Year's Eve, stunning onlookers in a crowded Cabo San Lucas nightclub ... an incident Person B says was, regretfully, fueled by booze."
Both quotes are from TMZ, both in response to a domestic violence incident (M v. F), but the language and tone used in both quotes are polar opposites. Quote 1 uses sharp language that elicits fear and discomfort while Quote 2 not only uses soft language "physical with each other" but also introduces alcohol as a scapegoat for the whole ordeal.

The difference in the two cases is that Quote 1 was in reference to a Black man, Ray Rice while Quote 2 was in reference to a White man, the appropriately named UFC President Dana White. You see, Ray Rice "delivered a vicious punch to his fiancee's face" while Dana White "regretfully got physical with his wife Anne Stella White while under the influence of alcohol".

The language makes you look at Ray Rice as the big Black boogieman while the language used for Dana makes you believe he is a repentant man who made a minor mistake with Anne Stella while drunk. The "aggressive Black man" stereotype is not by accident, it is created willfully by media entities such as TMZ who paint Black people in a negative light in their day to day reporting.

What Happened to Repentance and Understanding?

danawhiteresize.jpg

While TMZ attempts to make him look repentant, UFC President Dana White continues to make very arrogant, privileged, and disdainful responses to this well-deserved public outcry:

“What should the repercussions be? You tell me. I take 30 days off?” White asked reporters at a media event Wednesday. “How does that hurt me? Me leaving hurts the company. Hurts my employees. Hurts the fighters. Doesn’t hurt me.” “Do I need to reflect? No, I don’t need to reflect. ..I own this. I’m telling you that I’m wrong” he added. You can see insane levels of privilege in this video.

Translation: Yeah, I beat on my wife and got caught. So what? Nobody's perfect. This woke cancel culture needs to stop. I said, "sorry." Now move along already. Nothing's gonna happen. At this point, you're only going to hurt yourselves and others more than you'll ever hurt me. I have so much money and power that anything you try to do won't hurt me in the slightest. Your choice.

When Kyrie was unrepentant about sharing a link to a documentary he was castigated all across social media and the media at large until he apologized. His return to play wouldn't even be authorized until in the Nets own words:

“until he satisfies a series of objective material measures that address the harmful impact of his conduct and the suspension period served is no less than five games.”

John Greenblatt of the ADL had this to say:

“The answer to the question ‘Do you have any antisemitic beliefs’ is always ‘NO’ without equivocation. We took @KyrieIrving at his word when he said he took responsibility, but today he did not make good on that promise. Kyrie clearly has a lot of work to do.”

The media was unwilling to accept anything short of repentance from Kyrie Irving but UFC President Dana White gets a full on pass in the general public? Interesting...

The Media Serves as PR Firm for Dana and Anne White

sasresize.jpg

The media has activated talking heads such as Stephen A. Smith, Molly Qerim, and Harvey Levin to run to the defense for UFC President Dana White.

Molly Qerim of ESPN was even bold enough to condescendingly say live on air, "I'm not a part of the whole cancel culture and I don't judge people by their worst moment. He has a beautiful family and I wish them the best." Because you know, "cancel culture" is to only affect Bill Cosby and other Black men and their families, not Dana and Anne or White males and their families as a collective. Where was this same energy when she tried to get Lavar Ball cancelled by framing him as a sexual deviant?

Stephen A. Smith even went as far as to warn Dana White before making a statement about him publicly. It's interesting how people like Molly and Stephen A. Smith can find nuance when it's a White man in question but be totally uncompromising when the person is Black. If it isn't about race, what was the catalyst for their sudden care about people's personal life and not judging people at their worst moments? As we know, since Ralph Wiley's passing...Sports journalism has rife with anti-Blackness, to read more see our article:

When Grace and Understanding Becomes White Privilege

white-people-hush.jpg

To this day, the media continues to cancel, judge, and vilify Black men such as Chris Brown, Michael Vick, Zac Stacy, Kanye West, and Ray Rice for their worst moments while giving grace and/or sympathy to White males such as Chad Wheeler, Dana White, Ezra Miller, Woody Allen, most of the Jan 6th insurrectionists, Roman Polanski, Shia LaBeouf, Joe Rogan, Rush Limbaugh, and even Harvey Weinstein.

Ari Emanuel, who is the CEO of Endeavor (which is UFC's parent company) has been brazenly silent on the matter. We're supposed believe that the same Ari Emanuel who was extremely vocal on Kanye West and Kyrie Irving is suddenly at a lost for words? So much for #MeToo, #TimesUp (which Endeavor helped to fund) and the phrases "believe all women" and "toxic masculinity."

Protecting the Image of White Society

A "whistle-blower" of ESPN, Jeff Wagenheim, was even forced to admit that all of the staff were ordered not to say anything incendiary about Dana White's violent, abusive, women-beating behavior. And since his violent behavior itself is incendiary alone, the staff either has to paint Dana and Anne as saints or forgo discussing it altogether.

The media is even using soft, minimizing language like "Dana White appears to have slapped his wife Anne White" and "Dana and Anne had a physical altercation".

If Dana White was Black, the media headlines would read, "Shocking, horrific, violent video surfaces of Dana White combat sports executive brutally beating on his wife in public view (WARNING GRAPHIC)."

If ESPN has this embargo we can only assume that every other major publication has one similar. If Dana White was Black he would be trending on every Social Media platform known to man. The algorithm would be fine tuned to inject it into every timeline or feed possible.

An exclusive video of Dana White's own mother (June White) saying that Dana White is not a good person has recently resurfaced in light of the violent incident. In the video, Dana White's mother is seen detailing Dana's infidelity, his blatant misogyny and disrespect towards women, his gross abuse of his wife and family, and his corrupt business practices (example: having his female workers have sex with him in exchange for opportunities and gifts). Yet, the media isn't making it their personal mission to question and interview Dana's wife and every single person, child, relative, or worm who has ever been involved with or witnessed any violence and corruption from Dana White.

Dana White's barely apologetic public statement made on TMZ was an utter slap in the face (no pun intended). A sad puppy faced Harvey Levin and his TMZ co-host handled Dana with kid gloves...the White privilege of it all was baffling. If this was Kevin Hart on TMZ acting like this, the media and others would be claiming how his non-apology was arrogant and disrespectful. In fact, they'd fly to Cabo San Lucas to interview individuals who were at the New Year's Eve party to get the full scoop.

TBS Network immediately needs a power slap to the face for refusing to cancel Dana White's upcoming series, "Power Slap" in the wake of this situation. This is because TBS decided to "reschedule" the premiere of the series instead of canceling it entirely.

Where Is the National Call-to-Action to Demonize Perpetrators of Domestic Violence Like UFC President Dana White?

When Kyrie Irving did not apologize for sharing a link to Amazon.com there was a national call to punish him, where is that same energy now? Where is the public outcry to stop doing business with the UFC President Dana White and the Endeavor CEO? Based on their own standards Dana White's non-apology is not enough. Hatred and misogyny should have no place in our society, no matter how much money is at stake. Why are we not protecting women like Anne Stella White from vicious men like the UFC President Dana?

If Dana White Was Black....

ifhewasblackresize.jpg

To all Black people reading this, remember, everything is ALWAYS about race. Do not let people gaslight you into seeing non-existent nuance in America's behaviors. The abuse Dana White's wife suffered at the hands of the UFC President at that New Year's Eve party would be plastered everywhere if he was Black. Dana White's Wife silence would not be looked at as protecting their personal life, it would be characterized as her fearing another physical altercation with the big Black brute. The media would emphasize the importance of respect Anne's personal life and space in these times. She would be looked at and described as a suffering victim of domestic violence and there would be public media demands for Dana White to be fired, punished, shamed, and arrested.

Dana White would be losing sponsorships, business deals, opportunities, and public media support left and right. The Ultimate Fighting Championship would make a decisive statement condemning his actions and instituting an indefinite suspension. Dana would have to go on an apology tour where reports pester him with non-stop trick bag questions in hopes to repair permanently damaged public image. Factual statements such as "She hit him him first" would be met with retorts such as "there is never ever an excuse for a guy to put his hands on a woman". We would see headlines asking if "Combat Sports were having a deleterious effect on his mental state" and calls to seek rehab for alcohol addiction. The video of White's mom calling him everything but a child of God would be streaming 24/7 on media outlets. Anchors would be clamoring for interviews with former UFC ring girls asking them to corroborate accusations of infidelity.

Pundits would put on their best Oscar worthy performances and ponder on the mental health and stability of his three kids Dana White III, Savannah White, and Aidan White. The three children would be in a one-time special with Gayle King to recount their feelings regarding the physical altercation that took place on that fateful New Year's Eve. We would see feminists in tears speaking on the fear Dana White's Wife Anne White is feeling and how terrible domestic violence can be. The media would get random people's opinions on the ordeal and attempt to violate his personal life in every manner possible.

Gloria Allred would step in pro-bono and have Anne doing national press conferences about the ills of domestic violence. Gloria would then help Anne file divorce so that she could take everything she could from the Dana. It would be a non-stop feminist veneration of Anne but not for her own benefit, it would be to demonize a Black man.

In the end, it's important that we as Black people see the world for what it is so that we can better make it what we want it to be. The double standards make it extremely clear what value the country places on our lives...act accordingly.
