Fake Martial Arts/Self-Defense Instructors

    This is as old as time but this dude at DUST in Detroit is the latest sensation that is going to get someone killed with his nonsense. Why do I say that? Because he does not practice on resisting opponents. Every technique you see him performing is on someone standing still and complying with his movements. The danger is that people practice these movements on people who comply, build a false sense of confidence, and are lost when facing an opponent that is resisting. If a trainer is saying his/her technique works then they HAVE to show it work on someone who is trying to kick their ass. You need to see the movement apply in the realest scenario possible and practice it as such. Someone who is running up on you with a gun or knife ain’t just gonna let you take It. He’s gonna do everything in his power to destroy you. What if you do happen to grab his gun and the barrel and he starts punching you in the face and pistol whips you? These classes don’t prepare you for that…

    Yup the problem is that the people he is teaching it to don't know how to fight and probably never been in one so they are unable to see how impractical it is. I hate when you see those moves that require you to touch a very specific part of the body like the skin between the thumb and index and other stupid stuff like that. There's no way you're going to be able to land that technique on someone trying to knock your head off. THat's why these instructors don't even try to demonstrate it on a resisting opponent because they wouldn't never get it to work.

    Right on brotha, this school is a mcdojo and the "instructor" very well may not have the appropriate license or certs to be a fully operational facility for self defense. Glad you posted it here this a good example of what you should avoid when seeking a real self defense class.

    Lmao likewise I usually go up there time to time to see what the old or new gimmicks, scams etc. out there in martial arts, that's cool as shit you check it out too the op probably a video on there

    Like someone is going to be able to determine the action of the weapon, hold the slide, and push the firearm back towards the attack when their lives are flashing before their eyes. He is so dangerous...in that situation you need STFU, give them whatever they need, and hope they don't blow your brains out. Everyone that I know that knows how to fight knows when not to. It's always the twerps that don't fight that think you can fight in every situation.

    Checking an instructor's credentials, and the source that issued the documents. Checking the instructor's reputation among seasoned members of the martial arts community. Might be some ways to find out whose the real McCoy. Plus, critical thinking skills are needed even if one is a very practiced martial artists. Can't karate block or peek a boo around being stupid.
