I am genuinely afraid of what is capable with Deep Fakes these days. They've become a lot more sophisticated and are becoming even more realistic. Some of them you can tell, because of the uncanny valley (where you can tell the CGI doesn't belong), but there are some out there that are done so good, that it can probably confuse many.

And with new tools out there, and new techniques, it's becoming easier to make these deep fakes look realistic. Just look at the dude who makes the Tom Cruise deep fakes, it almost looks too real.

This was my concern. We all have people who look similar to us. People we will likely never meet or know. If you look similar enough to someone, deep-faking them is super easy and the government and law enforcement can EASILY use this against people.

They can indeed be used to frame people, but also remember that investigations into such cases involves checking for fingerprints matching and other evidence apart from the facial similarity. So, I worry less about deep fakes and feel it is just a way people get to look like some popular characters we know.

I don't put anything past the mainstream system. They already have this technology in deep underground bases and are waiting for an excuse to release it.

Zero doubt in my mind it will be used for immoral and unethical means if it hasn't already. I can easily see law enforcement and the FBI using it to discredit any Black person or persons who are making an impact.

Or on presidential candidates by Russians, Chinese, people in the opposition. Or whatever. It will be abused. And I doubt the government will get ahead of it enough. My question is how easy or difficult is it to find out if something is a deep fake?
