Integration killed a lot of our random kindness to each other. Pre Civil Rights days, if you were driving a long ways and you need to sleep for the night and the local hotel didn't accept black folks. You could literally talk to any random black folks and either they would put you up for the night or introduce to someone who would put you up. There were 100s of sundown towns across America and we did that for our own survival.
Obviously today we can stop at any Best Western or Holiday Inn Express or even Airbnb. The same if you were stuck on the road, it was automatic that if a car with a black man passed you he stopped than leave you out there isolated for any white cop or racist white boy in the KKK.
With AAA and car insurance, etc its not necessary. The fact we can find shelter or automotive assistance at the push of a button is great. However, with decades of post Civil Rights targeting and removal of resources that made crime seem a necessity to some of us, and since at least the 80s and increasing in the '90s, foreign black community that too many don't have that code here (but sometimes back at their home country), that community code of taking care of each other is pretty much gone.
