I have yet to get into VR gaming. I remember when it first became a thing and I said I would wait until it was better but I still don't have much interest in it. I know a few people who have VR headsets and play now and then but most people I know on and offline don't mess with it. Is it just me or is VR overrated?

I don't know about overrated, but it comes off at this point like a Fad. Don't get me wrong cause I use to have a playstation VR at one point and I loved the hell out of it (especially if you watch a POV of rollercoasters on youtube...😁). But after a while depending on the game I play i started to get motion sick and I don't normally get that type of sickness; and also considering that most companies haven't really know the true value of VR, there's hardly enough games to go around for it. Also with the cost of some of them and the level of wiring you have to connect it becomes a pain in the ass for some.

While VR came a long way and its more accessible (and affordable) for most and while they are working on making a stabilization to combat the motion sickness for a lot of VR systems/games; It's not gaining that much attraction as it was originally set out to be.

It's bad ass but there haven't been any real definitive games that have come out. A lot of the games on Playstation VR for instance, seem like tech demos. I think that's what's really holding it back at this point. I would like to see a game with a $30M development budget be made for VR.

I think that's what Sony wants to do with the new Playstation VR 2. They want to make Triple A First party games cause they were having that issue with the original PSVR with lack of first party content and some triple A third party too(except for 'Blood and Truth' that was an awesome VR game for the playstation VR!!)

No. I was truly taken back at how far it has come. My samples were Half Life Alyx, VR Chat (full immersion, not just headset) and for my science/Astro nerds, Discovery Deep Space (may be discontinued now)

I tried one of the cheap VR headsets last year, I didn’t find anything too extraordinary about it. However, I know that a lot of disabled people enjoy VR because it gives them a sense that they are doing something they’ve always wanted to do, go outside, view scenic areas, etc. I believe VR is definitely a good thing for disabled individuals, however, it’s currently not my cup of tea.

Yeah, it not for everyone and that's fair. And it does help someone who is disable, I want to say they use it for disable vets as well. When it was in the service they were kind of in talks about it but it went quiet.

I believe that it's part of the reason why VR headsets were developed in the first place because when you look at its effectiveness for those that are disabled getting involved into active gaming, it's been fantastic.

It's not overrated, its a stepping stone, NASA and others are pouring big money into these projects and some of these projects are being connected to Neuralink (Think of Black Mirror).

I must just be stuck in the mindset of it being only for gaming. I can see what you are all saying. I guess once the tech goes more beyond gaming, it will change my mind. That being said, I don't trust what they are doing with it over on Facebook's "Metaverse" lol
It's actually something certain that they are going to take VR beyond gaming purposes. If they didn't, it's going to be one of the worst short-sighted decisions scientist and developers have ever displayed.

Thinking back, not everyone had computers or used them on a daily basis. Now everyone does but in the form of a phone. I think that is what will happen here. Most people will end up using it but not for gaming and not in a way we can see today.

There is an endless possibilities to what the use of VR headset can impact in the world once its development and upgrades is maxed out. With how it's used in video games shows that it's something that will expand to other aspects of human existence.

Saying that it is overrated in some quarters is simply because of limited information on what anyone can do with the VR headset while playing games. You feel different and in control and that is basically what I like with it.

Hell, most of the people who are full of criticism towards VR headset can't even afford it and as such they are filled with bias for it. I wonder how people would hate on something they don't truly understand how it works. Anyways, it's what's expected of any new tech that's been developed over the years.
