Absolutely we should know our neighbors. I agree we need to have influence. This should be done in our area of experise. We should advocate for whatever we are knowledgeable about that will get us somewhere. Our goals should be realistic. We need SMARTER goals. I use this acronym a lot. Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, Time-Bound, Evaluate, and Reward.
- Know your neighbors
- Have influence
- Create goals and rally people around the goal
Keep us posted regarding the positive things you see our folks doing.I haven't done as much as I'd like to in my community. I've always wanted to volunteer at the homeless shelters and boys and girls clubs around though. I'll definitely look into helping out more when all of this covid stuff goes away.
I hope so too because people need good things to do.I used to volunteer at the local VA hospital near me. I also used to help with a program that provided sports equipment and lessons to urban children in the area. I stopped doing all of that when the pandemic hit but I'm hoping they'll allow volunteers again soon.
Agree. How can you help somebody but you don't help yourself?I think the best approach to solving issues starts in the small, more localized areas. Obviously, you want to get your crap together in your own home but once you got things squared off, what is the next move? I want to work on improving my community. Ensure things stay clean and maintained, crime doesn't get higher, and so on. What are some approaches to doing this so I can get an idea?
I see many parks that used to look so good but have fallen into ruins. It is an eye sore.Actually I struggled with that too in my previous neighbourhood, we as a community decided together to look after our near by places by gathering money for the repairing of parks, replacing old dustbins, organising community events, raising money for charity, meeting and greeting to each other with respect, collecting food for homeless and many other things.
