I think the framing is the issue here like you say "straight people who are unsure…" Already assumes a default, that gay people are really straight people who were converted. I believe it is this belief that must create anxiety around minority sexualities.

But, I doubt that's actually how it works, I don't think it's necessarily religious conditioning or a belief that decides your sexuality although there are many that treat it as such. I think there is an element much deeper that we actually cannot "touch". I do not believe it is nature "or" nurture but both so it's just going to be what it is.

No one says they are straight because of conditioning so I believe there is some kind of need to not believe sexuality is uncontrollable when it comes to other sexualities. I think it is ultimately about survival.

We are habitually afraid of our own nature because we believe we'll kill ourselves if left to our own devices. We see ourselves as separate from the world's nature (although having features and tendencies created by it). I think we underestimate nature's reach and intelligence.

You didn't answer any of my questions and you basically already said this. You've been told it's not a choice and you still don't accept them so why would anybody lie to you about it?

Let's be precise in what we are saying. You chose to act on what you feel. What you feel, you do not choose. You probably would say you chose to be straight, in action, but the attraction you did not choose.

Have you ever chosen to be attracted to the same gender? If not, how would you know if it's a choice? Nothing backs up your claim. Do you have anecdotal personal experience at least? How do you know people that have been/are being tortured, ostracized by their communities/families, imprisoned, beaten to death, burned alive all over the world for centuries are doing it because they can't part ways with a sexual kink?

They aren't. There are literally doing what you have always taken for granted. People are going to hide themselves because you don't like them.

I understand it. Homosexuality is not a thing heterosexuals can easily evaluate because of the bias they don't know they have. There is some fear of annihilation in there as well, but it has no basis. You're creating a problem in your head because the world isn't what you told yourself it was.

I understand your emotion around this issue but it's making you irrational. "Degenerate" "repulsion" "disturbing" "wholesome" "nauseous" are all subjective terms describing how you feel. None of them are objective.

I've only offered one defense and backed it up with rational arguments/questions that you can investigate in your own direct experience. You've refused the mere attempt at honest contemplation because of these subjective judgments you've made. "I'm straight and I say so" is basically your entire argument.

I think the crux of our disagreement is due to the conflation of attraction and action regarding sexuality. Heterosexuality/homosexuality as far as action is a choice. The attraction that precedes the action is not. The attraction determines the action so it is misleading/dishonest to focus just on the action so you can say homosexuality is a choice.

You've not been an honest actor in this exchange because of your judgments/feelings. You have the proof that homosexuality is the same as heterosexuality within you in your own direct experience, but you don't want to recognize it.
