People Return To Offices, Productivity Plunges

Commentary

One of the most interesting things about the pandemic, at least from an employment perspective, is that productivity didn’t suffer as a result of remote work.

In many cases, employees became even more productive while working from home, either because they were happier or because they were making an extra effort to impress far-away bosses.

Now comes word from the Bureau of Labor Statistics that productivity plunged during the first half of 2022, down by the sharpest rate since the 1940s.

Economists are trying to come up with explanations for the decline, and to understand what this means for post-pandemic changes to the workplace, including hybrid schedules that allow more time out of the office.

My hunch is that many workers are letting their employers know that things are different now.

First, there’s the trend of “quiet quitting,” by which some employees throttle back on their work tempo to express a recalibration of their work-life balance. That is, they’re reprioritizing the importance of work in their lives.

More important, I suspect, productivity is falling because many people simply came away from the pandemic feeling that their employer wasn’t there for them in a meaningful fashion as Mr. Corona pushed us all around.

And now that many businesses are once again requiring a physical presence in the office, some employees are consciously or subconsciously expressing their dissatisfaction by taking their foot off the gas pedal, as it were.

People who previously went above and beyond at work are now giving little more than the expected output.

People who previously gave only the expected output are now just going through the motions.

Managers will say this is a problem with their workforce. I see it more as a management issue.

If managers can’t motivate their staffs with positive, satisfying workplaces, they’ll see productivity fall by the wayside.

Some managers are even responding to the changes by imposing productivity-tracking software on employees — programs that monitor how long you’re at your desk and how busy you are at the keyboard.

I may not know how precisely to create a positive, satisfying workplace. But I know that spying on employees isn’t a great start.

So, yeah, productivity is down as wary workers are returning to offices.

It’s not rocket science.

I Tested Positive for COVID

Yesterday morning I had a meeting at 8AM…right after it was done I felt extremely sick and weak. I immediately head to the bed…I had chest pain, shortness of breath, my head was hot but my body was shivering cold. I was so weak and in so much pain, it sucked. Sleeping was hard because my temperature was so elevated. I popped two benadryls while listening to Taharka Bey and had a dream about discovering some moorish secrets. It was strange AF. I took a test this morning and it came back positive so I’ma lay low the next week.

I feel better today but I’m still bed ridden and weak. COVID is no joke.

If you could go back in time and live free of issues, where would you go?

Is there a time in the past, maybe a decade you'd like to go back to and live your life? Let's say the hate and abuse during that time is no longer present, and you can live your best life, free of racism and hate. What decade would you choose? It can be any time in the past, or hell, even the future if you want.

I have a lot of nostalgia for the 80s and 90s, so I'm kinda tempted to go back to around then and revisit it. I kinda want to go back and experience gaming for the first time, to have that sense of wonder playing something so new and fresh. I don't get that feeling with video games these days.

How far back would you want to go? Maybe before the internet? Maybe before even TV?

Do you actually listen to the lyrics to most music?

I have a thing, where if I listen to music, I just listen to it for the sound. I found that I do this with most music, where I will have it on as background noise if I'm working or gaming and I would rarely listen to the actual lyrics. So if you ever ask me to sing something that I like, I probably won't be able to sing it.

Does anyone here do the same? I don't normally listen to music by itself. I usually have it playing when I do something else. In the past I have relaxed with some music, and during those moments I do listen to the lyrics, but otherwise if I'm preoccupied with something, I will sometimes ignore the music.

The longest gaming session you ever had?

What has been the longest gaming session you ever had? As in the longest time you played a game or games for as long as you possibly can in one sitting. The longest time I've ever gamed, was probably back when COD was big. I mean, it's still big today, but I'm not as invested as I was back when I was just getting out of high school. I played a ton of Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare back in the day, and I remember gaming for hours into the night. I have mostly just gamed into the night hours. My longest gametime was probably during a COD release, maybe MW2 or Black Ops, I forget, but I played from the midnight release to like 6am. Not too long, but long for me.

What's the longest amount of time you gamed in one sitting?

Would Vine kill TikTok?

Elon mentioned bringing Vine back.

I think Twitter killing Vine was the dumbest thing that platform ever did. A lot of people are saying if they do bring back Vine, it may just kill off TikTok in the west. At this point, I would welcome that but they would likely bring the same trash on there over to Vine 2.0 - what are your thoughts on this? Would it kill it off? Is it worth bringing back? Would you use it?

It's Election Season

Since we know that none of these politicians are going to do anything for FBA I think we can all agree on of how sick and tired we are of the Campaign ads, Campaign Robo calls, Campaign text, and the campaign fliers they stick in our door.

I got a campaign text today so I responded

THE TEXT:

Hi David, it's Zahraa with the MIDems. With just 8 days left until Election Day, we are doing everything we can to turn voters out to support dems up and down the ballot. The Governor, Lieutenant Governor and Kerry Washington will be joining us in Detroit on Saturday at 5pm for the Grand Finale of the Getting Things Done Bus Tour! Can we count on you to join us? Stop2optout

MY QUESTION:

Hi Zahraa, can you tell me which candidate not only supports but has an actionable agenda for REPARATIONS & TANGIBLES for Foundational Black Americans whose lineage can be traced back to American Slavery? If you tell which candidate is like that I would be happy to vote and see you on election day😁

THE RESPONSE TO MY QUESTION:

I'm opting you out of texts immediately. Have a great day.

🤣😆😂

My Medium Account Was Suspended For Anti-Semitism Today

So, the social credit system is here. My Medium account was suspended for going back and forth with some Jews about antisemitism. How is it that if we are Jews (Hebrews) and we discuss our "alleged" brothers, we get suspended and they don't?

Ya'll this shit is out of control and they don't want us to tell the world who we are, what they've done, and they damned sure that judgment their asses is due for breaking Yah's law. PayPal's slip-up was a warning to us all. Any of these third-party payment systems, social media sites, etc. owned by them mofos could easily get you silenced, get your work suspended, erased, and they get to keep on pushing like they ain't did shit.

Freedom of Speech is DONE in America. I'm glad I have my own website. I'm finna talk about they asses ALL DAY over there. This is one area where Black folks really need to stand and figure out a way to shut them, folks, DOWN. Stop working, stop buying, take ya money out of their banks, delete their apps, stop using their products, don't listen to any of their trash-ass music, trash artists, don't watch their trash TV, don't read their funky ass papers, NADA. If we keep allowing everybody to run over us and mistreat us we will always be in this position. I'm getting real tired of standing for the collective and the collective love the oppressor and his stuff. Is anyone else feeling like this?

Is Fufu actually good?

I've honestly never tried African foods before, and don't really have any foreign restaurants or anything near me, so I've really never had the chance to anyways, but I wonder if Fufu is actually good, because to keep it a buck, it looks disgusting, but the taste could be way different from how it looks, so I wonder if it's good to any of you who've actually tried it.

Dr. Francis Cress-Welsing is right...

Under the system of global ytsupremacy, the Masculinity Black Men naturally exude is considered unacceptable and even threatening to all those who are NOT Black Men (namely ytsupremacists and their coon flunkies). Dr. Francis Cress-Welsing spoke of this back in the 70s, and it's happening before Our eyes in 2022.

Has anyone checked this movie out? I caught it with a friend a few days ago and I gotta admit, it's gory like everyone is saying. I heard recently as well, that people were puking because of how messed up it was. Honestly it had its moments, but I didn't think it was as bad as people were making it out to be. It's not a good movie, but for those looking for some dumb fun may be into it.

The acting is pretty bad, but I think they know exactly the kind of movie they're making and aren't taking themselves too seriously.

Jake Paul Vs Anderson Silva was a staged fight

Did anyone waste their precious time watching the Jake Paul/Anderson Silva boxing match this weekend? I heard Jake Paul won via decision and I think it's all a work, as in fake and part of their plan. The reason I say this is because the day or week before Jake Paul gave Silva a deal, that if Silva was to win the fight, he would do an MMA fight against him, but if Paul was to win, the two of them would start some fighting commision for the UFC to make sure fighters are paid well.

That alone made me think this fight would be staged, and low and behold, the fight happens and I hear Silva is taking it slow with him and barely doing much. Now I can't judge the fight, because I didn't tune in, but the fact they went the whole fight, I figured it was all a work.

I think his matchup with Mayweather Jr. as well was all for show, and was just all for money.

What do you guys think of this though? Was the match between Paul and Silva fake just to capitalize on the cash? I think so. Well not fake, but each fighter held back is what I'm trying to say.
