Between the 467+ year old anti-Black racism pandemic and this covid pandemic that is now 3 years old, I can't.

They said "this too shall pass", but are we sure they didn't mean, "you too shall pass?"

Despite all that we as black men have to endure here in America, a majority of us are making it.
If you look at the way the media paints it they would have you believe that the majority of us are destitute. While it is true that it is more likely for a black man to end up in a bad situation the majority of us don't.

"Nearly 6 in 10 black men reach the middle class or higher by middle age, a nearly 20 percent increase compared to 1960. And the share living in poverty has dropped from 41 percent to 18 percent over the same time period."

Despite a portrait of race relations that is painted especially about black men, truth is that most black men will not be incarcerated, are not unemployed, and are not poor.

According to the Bureau of Justice Statistics, one in three black men can expect to go to prison in their lifetime. While those numbers are horrible considering we aren't the larger portion of the population that still means that 66% the majority do not end up in prison.

The vast majority of middle-class black men (93%) are free of health issues in their fifties, yet about three-in-ten of the same-age black men in poverty have health issues that limit the type of work and other activities they can do.

There are also things about these black men that are less easy to observe: These men scored higher on the Armed Forces Qualifying Test (AFQT), a test measuring their general knowledge. And when it comes to what is driving their lives, themselves, or their environment, these teenagers or young men scored higher on an agency scale that tapped whether they believed they had control over their lives rather than being driven by fate or their environment.


Marijuana is always touted as a talking point by politicians. Truth is the majority of African Americans do not use marijuana. In 2020, around 27 percent of African Americans (both male and female) aged 18 to 25 reported they had used marijuana in the past month. For those above age 26 this percentage dropped to 13.3%.

So while a majority of black individuals decide to not involve themselves with such activity a small margin does and that is what the media shows and highlights.

Decisions to involve one self in illegal behavior have an effect on later life outcomes.

By midlife, only 28% of black men who had contact with the criminal justice system when they were young have moved into the middle or upper class, compared to 52% of black men who had no contact with the criminal justice system at a younger age.

As of Jan 1, 2023, the average annual pay for an African American in the United States is $78,967 a year. Just in case you need a simple salary calculator, that works out to be approximately $37.96 an hour.

My point is this. Don't let the negative stereotypes portrayed in the media get you down. Don't let politicians playing on those stereotypes in hopes of getting a vote change how you see yourself. Despite everything the majority of black men are doing well. Your focus should be on being part of that statistic. Not letting politicians tell you life is hopeless unless they help you.

Politicians have done very little to help black men specifically. Most anything that was done was something done for everyone. It's just simply a matter of if one chooses to take advantage of those things or not.

Myself for example. I grew up in rural Louisiana. The area was very racist. There were few good jobs and the ones that there were it was difficult as a young black man to get a foot in the door. I knew that if I stayed there odds were I'd end up either dead, in jail or destitute.

I took and scored high on the ASVAB and went into the Army. I never really planned to stay in the Army. While I was in I ran into lots of racism. One sergeant I had was racist and didn't like me. He tried his best to get me kicked out. Luckily I was restationed. I finished out my 4 year term on Active Duty. I served another 3 years in the Army Reserves.

I took advantage of everything available to me from that. I was able to get VA disability afterwards which guarantees me a monthly check for the rest of my life (so long as the US government stands). I used my GI Bill benefit to go to college and get my nursing license. I used my civil service preference to land several federal government jobs (as I write this I am serving in my 9th federal government appointment). I used the VA Loan benefit to buy a house in a good neighborhood.

I'm not sitting here waiting on politicians to do something. I'm doing it myself!

On Sunday, Feb. 19th, we will be on the corner of Mitchell St and Paschal Blvd near Brawley Hall at Clark-Atlanta University, handing out free care packages for HBCU students in need.

A lot of you understand how it is in the dorms. A roll of 2-ply toilet paper, a few packs of noodles or soup can go a long way. We want to show our young people that we care about them and help them on their journey to higher education.

Regardless if we make our target goal or not, we will be out there handing out care packages with the money we have and we would love to be able to hand out at least 200 packages.

Each package will contain non-perishable food and hygiene items. Let's start off 2023 by supporting and helping our people in the community!

While some black people are all in for support, I'm also seeing other black people saying he's anti-black. And overall, I'm seeing a disconnect within the community.

I personally don't know anything about him, but what are your thoughts? Do you know anything about him? Do you think he has black people's best interest at heart? If not, how do you feel about Marcel endorsing him?

I think he'd kill on The Breakfast Club. I recall him being a call in guest to a radio program that had former congressperson Cynthia McKinney on it and it was obvious she was very impressed with him.

This is going to be one of the worst things with regards to privacy. If we convert our money to digital where the government can track it, it can literally take your money whenever it wants. Right now the government can flag your passport when you try to travel and you have no warning or no reason and no clear way to get your passport unflagged.

I know one person personally who makes what we thought were just regular political commentary on his social media. Nothing like violence or whatever. Regular stuff and he was living overseas, tried to go to China for vacation to see the Great Wall of China, etc. and the Chinese said the US government flagged his passport. They didn't know why, all they know is there is an international warning on it so they couldn't let him in. He went to the US embassy and they didn't know. Told him to try one agency, and that agency said another. They guy was literally stuck in a foreign country and didn't know why.

Anyway, the same can happen with your 'digital currency', for whatever reason since the Fed has control of it, they can decide to freeze your account. No reason given. The IRS could say you owe money and just take it. They do it now. I know for a fact that if you have over 10k wire coming or going in your account the banks, all banks, even foreign banks must alert the US government treasury and if they deem fit, they can simply freeze your account or take the money and you have to prove how you got it legally. It's basically you are guilty and you have to prove your innocence after. Completely unconstitutional but the government has normalized breaking the constitution that even the Supreme Court says you have no expectancy of privacy. Basically, although invasion of privacy is illegal, the cops or the government do it so much, you shouldn't expect it. Completely asinine logic but the SC works as a tool of the system.

How does this or can this affect black empowerment directly? What if in the not too distant future the government insists reparations are paid with this digital currency? Also, how do we know it can't be hacked? The dollar is becoming devalued as time goes on and what if reparations trick bag is to try and trick FBAs into accepting a form of money that it knows can be devalued where its not worth anything close to what you think it is? I'm not saying opt for gold or whatever. What I am saying is this has to be carefully reviewed and an internal think tank that is defensive, meaning, playing 3D chess to anticipate trick bags to make reparations or any other tangibles devalued or non-effective.

I like to collect stuff, especially stuff that brings up the nostalgia for me. I like to go looking for old action figures I had from the 90s, video games, collectibles and more. Does anyone here go out thrifting? As in going to thrift shops, garage sales, yard sales, etc.

I like going because you never know what you're going to find. Sometimes there's nothing but garbage, but there are times where I find some hidden amongst the trash.

What kind of stuff do you like to search for while thrifting? For me, it's mostly video games, albums (CDs, vinyl), movies, old toys, etc. Basically anything from the 90s or 80s. I just like to collect junk I guess.

I didn't see this coming when I woke up this morning. But news is reporting that Vince McMahon, is back on the board of directors of the WWE as he was recently pushed to retire due to allegations of misconduct. Two people have since resigned since he came back, those being the two who actually investigated McMahon originally. He also removed three people from the board, and added three in their place.

I was liking the changes the WWE made with McMahon gone. But now that looks to be in jeopardy as he's back and looking to maybe even sell the company outright. What do you think the product would be if McMahon decided to sell it off?
