Throughout my time living in the DC area, most of it has been very joyful, especially when I get to go out to Baltimore or down to see family in VA or SC, nothing short of a good time. One thing that I have continuously ran into is haggling shoppers in the DC area, I mean black (looking) people haggling black merchants over the price of their service (how dare you n$gga). I've only seen this with black men, given that I'm mostly around black men, but even then, I don't ask about the price unless it involves a clearance or some type of sale. I was headed to the gym and looking work off some this thanksgiving food when the black (looking) guy in front of me starts to haggle over the price of his membership, so that he could bring a guest. I took all of 5mins before I said, "May I sign in?", (I promise the verbiage was a lot nicer), I understand if you think you're getting worked over as a shopper but to continuously haggle and not be able to barter, aggravates me to the core. What say you?

This morning's coffee with The Professor took an interest turn, we were given a brief video sample of an interview Joy Reid conducted with the only Biracial Ukranian Politician and Athlete Zhan Belenuik, during the interview Zhan (alongside MP Oleksandra Ustinova) goes out of his way to deny racism of any kind (as opposed to his Reuter's Interview 7 months ago). Sadly, as voiced by The Professor in the broadcast, the jokes we tell among each other about the Bootlicks always bear true, and Mr. Belenuik may have sealed his own fate by denying full blown racism itself. Furthermore, it's also why we instruct each other to be honest about our condition domestically, as well as internationally, so that we may produce the most constructive and judicious results for future generations.

After nearly two years under the current administration, I am now fully convinced that Terry Crews' character President Camacho from the movie Idiocracy was a reenactment of VP Harris from her time as DA in SFCA. In the movie President Camacho was so intellectually deficient, he made the main character Joe Bauers (JB) look like a patron saint that came to save America (Camacho literally had the citizens watering their crops with a Monster Stand-in energy drink, that looked more like radiator fluid). I imagine many of you saw the title and shook your head in agreement and might have even said “straight facts” under your breath. I actually didn’t plan to write this piece. I was one and done with The Liberals That Cried Black Lives Matter. However, my new work situation gave birth to this article because…you guessed it, I work with Karens. Now our understanding of “the Karen” in a more general sense is the white woman who weaponizes her whiteness in an attempt to threaten and intimidate black people into submitting to the “all-powerful white supremacy”. The workplace Karen is slightly different, but not by much. She’s not trying to literally murder YOU for disobeying her…just your career. For this discussion, we’ll be speaking specifically about co-workers, as corporate superiors are a whole other pandora’s box for another discussion.

Karens Always Know What They Are Doing​

Before we get into it, let’s be clear about one thing, WHITE PEOPLE ALWAYS KNOW WHAT THEY’RE DOING. These people are born, raised and trained by both their families and society to believe they are superior to black folks in any and all facets of life. Anyone telling you or who has told you differently, is a fool, a coon or both. Point blank PERIOD. Brandi Suttles wrote about this in her piece “A Notice to Workplace Karens”, on Medium. (Sidenote: If you can ignore her cringe-worthy use of ‘BIPOC’ over simply saying ‘Black’, there’s good content in the article.) It points out the power dynamic white people expect in the workplace when dealing with Black co-workers. Now in her situation, she was the experienced employee trying to help a new white employee. In my situation, I’m the new employee, having previous office experience, with a white co-worker whose ONLY office experience is where we’re working now.

My workplace Karen #1(we’ll name her WK1) has been in our department the longest of any other employee(3.5 years), but has never held an office job outside of the organization (her previous work was at a statewide-only supermarket chain as a cashier). She brings a lot to the table in terms of understanding the organizational processes due to her long tenure. So in an environment with extremely high turnover, she’s become, haphazardly, invaluable. However, in working with her these last 2 months, WK1 is not the most operationally efficient employee. She does twice as much work when half as much will do. I’ve made suggestions to help streamline things and she has “fifty-leven” excuses for why it won’t or can’t work.

None of which are impressive or strong points mind you, especially considering the departmental and, more to the point, organizational mantra is “We don’t get paid enough to care.” So if you don’t get paid enough to care, then the least you can do for yourself is make your workday easier while you’re here for the 40 hours you’re exchanging for pay. But let’s face it, the real issue was SHE didn’t think of any of it. Meanwhile, in her little troglodytic brain, she’s thinking “This black chick has been here for 5 mins, coming in here trying to change things. Who the hell does she think she is?” What I THINK is that it’s obvious I’m more innovative and solutions-driven than you are, but I digress.

Let The Micro-Aggressions Begin​

So without any further ado, let’s begin with the microaggressions. For those not hip, microaggressions are little seemingly innocent questions, comments, quips that white people say for nefarious purposes like: make us look stupid and incompetent, or fish out information to see “what kind of black person we are.” The wizardry of it all, is that these statements are disguised as absent-minded enough where the average joe who isn’t proficient in the art of white supremacy’s microaggressions would blow it off and suspect the white person “didn’t mean anything by it.” It starts as soon as you’re hired and you walk into the office to say Good Morning. Up until now, you might have thought they were the simple get to know you questions…but ah ah ahhh what did we say? WHITE PEOPLE ALWAYS KNOW WHAT THEY’RE DOING.

Asking about your educational background? Yeah they’re trying to size you up to see if you’re smarter than them or if, in their mind, you’re “qualified” for the same job or higher, than them. Asking you what kind of music you listen to? This is not for commonality purposes. They want to know how much “black music” you listen to because this information will determine for them how “ghetto” you are. Asking questions about your family, they want to know if you fit the stereotypical broken-home-raised-black person. There are others, like asking you about certain black athletes or pop culture black celebrities that might be in the news for one thing or another (Think OJ, Cosby, Kanye), because they want to get a temperature of whether or not they can say certain things around you without getting their mouth gone up in. In conversations, they always shimmy their way into yours when it has nothing to do with them, particularly when you and other black, or non-white, co-workers are talking. Then they hijack the conversation all in the name of trying to look like the expert or authority on everything.

When you challenge or correct them on anything, they get pissy and try to “one-up” you to justify why they’re the authority on the topic. It BOTHERS them when they’re surrounded by not only educated black people, but no-nonsense, on-code black people and my WK1 is no different. Here’s a neat little micro-aggro exchange to illustrate: Depending on when you read this, this incident took place in February, bka, Black History Month. This no-black-friends-having child asks me, “Hey, do you know who Jackie Mitchell is?” “No. But I’m sure you’re going to tell me,” I responded, because that’s what I say to people who can’t take the hint that they need to just stop talking and be quiet for a little while. She then tells me, Mitchell is a female baseball player who struck out Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig(she couldn’t pronounce Gehrig’s last name btw). I say “Oh Cool,” dismissively, because I couldn’t give less than a shit if I tried.

Now for the coons in the house who earn their bones and biscuits by caping for white people, here are some quick things about me. I’m a lover of sports. I grew up playing organized, rec-league, with friends and fam, didn’t matter; I was always game for some competition. So for you bones and biscuits out there thinking “Maybe she was trying to relate to you because you like sports and thought that was a cool fact.” Yeah. No, dear. Not when you’re telling me about some WHITE woman, during BLACK HISTORY MONTH. For me that’s suspect at minimum but, as we discussed earlier, WHITE PEOPLE ALWAYS KNOW WHAT THEY’RE DOING. So I know what she was doing and WK1 knows what she was doing. She was trying to be micro-aggro about black history month.

Every year, all over the interwebs,a historical black figure is highlighted every single day in February. THIS. ISN’T. NEW. WK1 wasn’t born YESTERDAY. It’s part of the mental game she’s trying to play. I find it interesting that around the time she said this, Google Doodle had recently highlighted Toni Stone. A black woman, who was the first woman in history to play professional baseball as a regular in a men’s major baseball league. SUDDENLY, WK1, an ADMITTED NON-SPORTS FAN, whimsically wants to share this random ass information about some white female baseball player…? Naw fam, you know and I know, WK1 WENT OUT OF HER WAY to find that info about that white woman. Let’s not try to make it be anything else other than what it was.

These are the little mental-gymnastic duality games Karens play. It’s the test. They’re like little kids learning the limits of their parents. How far can they push the envelope? And if we don’t stop them dead in their tracks at this early stage, we will quickly find out they are prepping for the big one. What big one you ask? Harbinger your post reminds me of Tariq Nasheed's Broadcast on "Realizing Reality", he spearheaded the discussion by bringing up how Naomi Osaka was heckled in Wales during her Tennis march and the Officials did nothing about the Fans, he juxtaposed this by showing a clip of a white male tennis player being heckled by an on looker and they immediately removed the fan from facility. When I am in regular or post season as a referee (between football or wrestling), I my primary duty is they safety of the players and application of the rules, if fans (coaches or parents) are unruly they are warned and then removed and or sometimes banned from ever attending again. I've never seen someone banned from events, but I've seen fans (AKA Parents or relatives) ejected as well as Administrators (Athletic Director's, Assistant Principles and Coaches). That aside, the individuals being discussed are at the professional and in most cases the international levels, respectively, if anything the facility should be stripped from hosting the event and the officials should their licenses revoked, and the sponsor should be removed from being associated with the sport. yeah, it's extreme but a point needs to be made.

Remember when they told you as children or teens to be a law-abiding citizen and become a public servant if you can? I think the f%ck not, as we see the cost-of-living skyrocketing in some areas faster than others, your local Black and Blue are resorting to other measures. Not only do they have Qualified Immunity, but they also have Civil Asset Forfeiture, as well as The Ghostdope Precedent (I'm White and I say so), what a time to be alive!

Lock her and her whole family up

Curious to see if anyone here has watched this. I started watching it on a whim since I have Prime. Stuck it on and ended up enjoying it. The cast has a hell of a lot of jews and Italians though but they paint a reality that I think many black Americans forgot about. There are a hell of a lot of classy, wealthy, put-together black figures in this show. I feel like we were heading up and doing great things in spite of everything happening in the 50s and 60s but then something shifted. I am not going to say it was the jews in the entertainment industry and the whites ripping off our dance and music talents, but I am also not going to say it wasn't. Let's be real. lol

Anyways, it is a pretty entertaining show. Follows a female comedian trying to break out in her career. Back then, comedy was a hard sell and they didn't want women with pottymouths involved. Funny to see a proper white girl from the 1950s/60s talking like a trucker. lol

I saw this and many other stories like it:

I don't feel like people fully understand the cost of owning an electric car or the strain it can put on the power grid if more people started driving them. Right now, they are telling people in Cali to stop using charging stations for their cars. The prices of electric cars (used or new) are going up as well since more people are gaining interest. The cost will be similar in terms of energy but if shit breaks in one of those cars, most people won't be able to afford the repair.

I am looking at getting a hybrid. I feel like that is the safest middle ground right now.

An African American team of developers is set to transform 222 acres of land near Lakeshore Parkway into an estimated 900 residential units, single family, multi-family and senior housing with a project that has an estimated cost of $100 million.

The Birmingham City Council on Tuesday agreement unanimously approved the deal for Green Meadow Apartments, LLC., to buy the land for $1.5 million and begin a multi-phased development.

The project includes a planned commercial center with a grocery store, retail and commercial office spaces. This is the largest transaction led by African Americans in the city’s history.

“This is a great day for the city of Birmingham,” said Mayor Randall Woodfin. “Not only because of the jobs, the homes, and the economic impact, but because of the history that is being made.”

Cornell Wesley, director of the mayor’s office of innovation and economic opportunity, called the project “transformational.”

“We are looking at what I believe to be the largest, potentially, economic impact led by African Americans in our storied history as a city, that bring over $100 million worth of economic impact and investment in our area,” he said.

Michael German, CEO of Green Meadow and former director of the Alabama field office for the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), said, “We’re looking at the redevelopment, reimagining this whole new community that exists and bringing in all the facets of housing and business that will make this grow and will provide tax relief for the city because we’ll be contributing.”

The land is off Lakeshore Parkway at 1911 Tiger Walk in the Oxmoor neighborhood and adjacent to the Jefferson County Industrial Authority. Preliminary studies suggest the project will also generate 240 permanent jobs and another 2,000 construction jobs, in addition $500,000 in property taxes in the first three years, according to the city.

an Diego, California — At 12:38 p.m. on March 3, 2022, the San Diego Police Department received a request for “urgent cover” from the San Diego Sheriff’s Department at a residence in the 400 block of West Beech Street. Deputies from the Court Services Unit had gone to a residence at that location to serve civil process paperwork on a female resident. When they contacted the woman, she was uncooperative and was holding a knife. The woman eventually closed the door and the deputies requested assistance. While the deputies were waiting for additional resources, an employee in the building told them the same woman threatened a maintenance worker with a knife the previous day.
