The president misinterpreted a New York Times/ Sienna College poll that found a majority – 61 per cent – of Democrats want the party to nominate another candidate to replace the president in 2024.
Mr Biden claimed 92 per cent of Democrats do want him to run for a second term. However, the question posed to respondents of the survey was actually whether Democrats would vote for Joe Biden or Donald Trump if an election were held today.
Poll numbers for both Biden and Trump are low.
