I'm thinking about purchasing a smith and Wesson revolver and a Mossberg shotgun. Any opinions either of them?

Lots of people say use rock salt to worn, but my Dad said to never use rock salt.I was at the gun shop the other other day and some guys happened to be talking about shotgun ammo, and the Black guy was saying he was just gonna get some birdshot, and the white guy told him, nah do the Buckshot if you're doing home defense.....it was kinda wild bc you had just told me that the other day almost verbatim. It was actually a good day to be there. Not too crowded and no WS vibes in the store.
